FRIDAY PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT - MIRROR

Friday again already...........where is the month going.  Today we will link with Astrid for the word........ ..MIRROR.

I've found a few odd things along with the rather obvious mirrors.

My dressing table which I have posted before.
I purchased this in Tasmania in the mid 80's and it is made from Tasmanian Blackwood and is around circa 1910, we think.

The window frame, again which I've used recently.  DH made it and we placed mirror tiles behind to reflect the light.

A beautiful curved window mirror which I photographed in the sales section of the Visitor Information Centre at Fountains Abbey, back in 2014 when on holiday in UK.

Thinking of other options, I remembered the mirror like reflections in the dam at Gulf Station, a National Trust property in the Dandenong Ranges, here in Victoria.

Lastly, I snapped this about 10 minutes ago, when a silly idea popped into my head as I was about to do this post.
I have used this little mirror several times over the years to see how a section of fabric might look by fussy cutting in different shapes to form a hidden image.  Not as complicated as I've put it, but very hard to explain here.
Well that's my lot for this week and now I'm off to link up and later see what the other hunters have come up with.
Freezing here today with cloud, wind, rain and the possibility of snow down to very low levels, though we very, very rarely get actual snow, but a little bit of sleet for a few minutes when it's cold enough.

Have a great weekend all, take care, stay safe & hugs from down under.
Susan.

  1. I've got my grandma's glass dressing table set, similar to the one on your dressing table, which was her 21st birthday present, I think it's the only thing I've got of my grandma's so I treasure it. Some lovely photos.

    1. Thanks Jo. Part of the crystal on the dressing table was my Mum's.

  2. The old dressing table is very special. I have seen your purple mirror frame before but I still think it is wonderful. I've seen people use the mirror to test out fussy cutting fabric but it's not something I think I will be doing. It's not very warm here either! All is well here and I hope the same is for you.

    1. Thanks M. The fussy cutting can be as easy as 4 squares cut from exactly the same motif & to see if it looks OK to start with you use the mirror. All good here except for our sick car.(giggle)

    2. Lovely pictures again. That is a gorgeous dressing table. They don't make them like that any more. Perhaps too big for modern smaller houses. That cutting mirror is fascinating, rather like a kaleidoscope. I would have such fun with it. Just one query....why did you not buy the curved window mirror when you were at Fountains Abbey? You could have taken it back as hand luggage!!!! 🤣😂🧡 xx

    3. Thanks Carol. Yes, the little mirror does bring up a kaleidoscope effect & not sure the mirror at Fountains would fit in the overhead luggage bins.(giggle)

    1. Thanks Cherie. Are you joining in ths week with mirror? We could do, maybe, a challenge together with that type of patter. I've still got quite a bit of suitable fabric so we could share & come up with 2 completely different quilts.

  4. Lovely choice of mirror photos and you have such a nice antique dressing table. Cold with heavy downpours of rain here and we even had rumbles of thunder a couple of days ago. Strange weather just lately.
