FRIDAY PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT - ORNAMENT.

OK, I'm running very late due to life getting in the way, but here goes.

As we have hot Christmases here in Oz, I don't go to town on decorations, but do have a few favourites that come out each year & I'm still debating as to having a tree up or not.

Atop the wood burner a small tree DH fashioned for me a couple of years ago & I painted.  The little figurine is also timber & I've had it for a long time.  The lovely candle arch was purchased in an arcade in  Skipton, Yorkshire back in 2016 & always has pride of place somewhere prominent.
Many moons ago I purchased the gold filigree sleigh & popped this bundle of goodies into it and it comes out each year to grace the diningroom table and of course on a table mat I made from Christmas fabric.
My lovely Madonna vase that I've probably had since the early 80's and definitely needs a nicer arrangement to brighten her up a little.  If we are able to find somewhere local with bits'n'bobs I'll attempt something prettier.
Nothing wonderful for the front door in the way of fresh greenery as if we have "very" hot days, they completely wither & wilt, so a little something I made to be a bit festive.  A closeup below.

Now Jak prompted me to take a photo of my printers' tray with a lovely handmade Christmas card sitting on top and even though the printers' tray has been on before, I thought it looks good with the 3D card and it's small items.

My lot done hurriedly I'm afraid and hope I can still link this up.  Thanks to Astrid for hosting these and I'm already trying to work on this Fridays.
Take care all and hugs from down under.
Susan.

  1. It's lovely to see your Christmas ornaments. It's hard to think about having Christmas in hot weather so good to see how you celebrate. Your wreath is really nice. We're not putting up the Christmas tree this year with having the pup as I know it would be a magnet for her inquiring ways :)

    1. Thanks Eileen. Just think about anyone south of the equator is having a warmer Christmas than those north of it, then you realise it's not really that strange. I do understand about Tilly, as out cats had favourite decorations too that were magnets.

  2. I think I'd find it weird to be in a hot country at Christmas but I supposed it's just what you'd be used to. We've bought a new Christmas tree this year but we haven't put it up yet.

  3. Skipton is one of our favourite places to visit. Did you have a ride on the canal boat? I can't visualise Christmas in a warm climate but I bet it's lovely. Cold, grey, wet England isn't quite the snowy, Christmas card scene that we would love

    1. I love Skipton & we always visit & sometimes a couple of times & another place we always go is Bolton Abbey to blow the cobwebs away after the long flight. Other musts are usually Whitby, Fountains Abbey & Harlow Carr. It's not been exactly warm here so far & is grey, coolish & threatening more rain & storms for the next few days.

  5. There's so much to like about this post and it's impossible to pick a favourite. I like the candle arch, the Madonna vase is beautiful, and the printer's tray looks great with all the little ornaments on display :)

    1. Thanks Eunice & there is much in the printers tray of sentimental value bought in unusual places & by our 3 children over many years when young.

    1. Thanks Joy & I've only been in the mood for this post, but it's coming slowly. Hasn't the weather been weird for this time of year?

  7. Love the candle arch, all the more because it came from Skipton, one of my favourite places to visit and I'm so lucky to live about 10 miles away from it. I'm not sure what I'd think about Christmas where you live. Yes I like the warm more than the cold but .... Anyway take care and hope it is not too warm for you!

    1. Thanks M. I too love Skipton & have many wonderful memories of it. Not too warm here over the last few days with yesterday reaching a grand "16deg".

  8. So many lovely ornaments, I love the table mat you made with the sleigh on it.
Your printers tray has lots of sweet pieces in it, I like the tiny cup and saucer holder, so precious!

    1. Thanks Astrid. Some of the miniatures are very old & a few newer & some from the oddest sources, even cereal packets when the kids were young.

  9. We know all about hot Christmases. We lived in the far north of S.Africa and a long way from shops so only went to town once a month. We tried to order a Christmas tree from a nursery at the end of October for collection end of November. We got such funny looks - October is the hottest month of the year, temperatures between 35 and 40 deg. We gave up and bought an artificial tree!! Love your printers tray, mine is too crowded. Best of all is your sleigh on the Christmas mat. Keep cool.🌲 xxx
