GLOWING HEARTS LINKUP

I've been participating in a QAL with Sandra in Canada, which she has run now for quite a few years.         She has said we may still link even if it isn't quite finished and mine is a top but not quilted as yet.

This is a very quick post as I showed the quilt in my crafty catch up.

My quilt is made up entirely from scraps for the hearts and stash for backgrounds & sashing.
Sandra made her centre a maple leaf.
For those who may actually look at my blog, the centre of mine is a Waratah, the N.S.W. floral emblem and the pattern came from a book called Australian Patchwork by Margaret Rolfe.
I was born and raised in Sydney, the capital city of New South Wales.

Another photo which is explains about the Waratah.

As I said, just a quick post to do this link up and I should be back later in the week with my next part of our March holiday, though not sure whether many people are interested in my blog anymore.                   I do read all the blogs on my list, but now can't comment unless I'm on my PC.  Wish they'd stop changing everything.  Thanks to all, take care & hugs.

OUR MARCH HOLIDAY.

As we had appointments for young brother in March we decided to make it a holiday as well.  We'd seen a brochure on the Snowy Valley Sculpture Trail and decided to include it in our time away.  Also, I think I may have said in a recent post that my uncle was having his 100th birthday party too.  We spent the first 2 nights in Gundagai, a town on the Hume Highway in N.S.W. as it was close to the trail we wanted to explore.  Oh, there was so much to see, so this post may be a bit photo heavy and only a bit of what we explored.  There will be a few more posts.

This could be a rather fun event, so we may keep the date in mind.
It was a sign near the lovely old timber rail bridge you can just see in the background at Gundagai.

The photos above and below you may have to click on to enlarge.
They are a loan chimney above and below is a tumbledown stone cottage.

First stop was a small town called Adelong which we know well.  I forgot to mention that we actually lived in this area between 1980 and 1986 after we lost our business.
The town sign.

A sculpture of a bull.

The above caption tells what is below.

Some of the pieces I've not taken photos of the plaques, and I've also misplaced the brochure, so just enjoy the journey with us.

?
I think they are pears.

A mural on the side of one of the shops.

Look up between the trees and you may spot the gumnut caps.

Schism, so the plaque reads.

Next town we visited was actually where we lived.  In the photo below is an APPLE way off in a paddock.  There used to be one close to the road, but they suffered terrible bush fires a few years back and it was destroyed and someone popped one here.

And now here is a very large apple peeler.
There were many apple orchards and other fruit grown here.
Still is, though we didn't think quite as many.

One of many sculptures with caption below.

Don't you love the name of this store?

Can you see what is peeking out from this hole?

And yes, this is the lovely town of Batlow.
Below is one item we processed at the Cannery, which is no more.
I used to work there.

Do you notice something on this sign which is significant to me?
OK, enough from me today, but as I said earlier there will be more to come and again, they will be photo heavy.
Having a lot of trouble typing due to very painful chilblains at the moment due to the cold weather.
Hope you enjoy and I so want to get back into my blog and I realise I've lost so many followers after my last post.
Take care all and hugs,
Susan.
