FRIDAY PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT - SPACE

Linking today with Astrid for our photo hunt.  I found this one, actually unusual/different & really had to put my thinking hat on.

MY SPACE.

This is the "space " I call my own.  A bedroom at the back of our house with a sort of view of part of the garden.  I have just changed it all around as my son-in-law came and put in 2 more power points so I wasn't continually stepping over extension cord, which I've been doing for 6 years now.  The original power point was in a strange position.  I'm getting to grips with the new layout and it seems to be working well.  Below I'm showing the SPACE.

View from doorway.

The wall beside the doorway to the right of this.

View from window end.

As you walk in the door we have some storage boxes.

Looking from my cutting table toward the window.

Now I can see the doorway from my sewing machine and not be frightened by hubby suddenly creeping into the room in his bare feet.😊
This room is about 11' x 10' with a wardrobe behind where I have my design wall standing, so not very large, but it's adequate, though I would like my old setup from No.4 where I had the quilting machine in my sewing area too.

Just a few photos of my old studio in the house we sold back in 2013 & moved when retirement happened.  I even miss some of the furniture I sold, but, life happens and changes and I can still create wherever I am.

My lot done for today and sure as eggs I will now think of something else I could have used as SPACE.
Off to link this and late I'll pop in to see what everyone else has conjured up.
Take care all, stay safe & huggles from down under.
Susan.

CRAFTY CATCH UP.

Many thanks to blogging friends who are helping me keep this little archive of happenings going.  I nearly had a meltdown over this past weekend & chucked it in, but a phone call from Joy made me take stock & we will get through this hard time at some point.  Hopefully sooner than later.  Not being able to go ANYWHERE, other than to pick up groceries (1 person per household only) or for medical reasons within 5kms is hard & 1 hour of exercise outside our home within our local area is all we are allowed till restrictions are lifted.  I have been "doing", but slowly & procrastinating over everything I do and wonder whether it is all worthwhile.  DH has been pottering too.  Some photos follow of a few bits and pieces we've been up to.

A sign for his shed has appeared & really looks good.  He has been busy this past week redesigning his saw bench.
A very little bit of produce from the garden. 3 different varieties of tomatoes that are finally ripening, 2 more strawberries & there was a patty pan squash, but I must have removed it for some reason.  Most things are taking their time to ripen due to all the cloudy & wet weather we've experienced lately.  This coming week is supposed to be all sunshine & in the low to mid 30s, so a lot more should ripen.
The corner of the verandah with my potty pursuits, looking quite good at the moment.
Actually quite pink and these two, a dianthus & geranium are nearly the same colour.

This was quilted and bound last week.  A top that has been sitting in the tub of shame for a couple of years & will be given to friends in our car club, whose little two year old is so cute.  She has had a very small baby quilt I'd finished a few years back, but needs something a little bigger now to take to grandma's house when she is being baby-sat.
I was working on this over the weekend, a project in colours that felt right for the mood I was in.  I designed an oblong log cabin some years back & put some black/grey fabrics aside for it and as I was tidying after purchasing a new cube shelf, which I'd actually put together myself with a little help from DH for the screws at the end.  All sorts came to light from the old tubs and the new system is getting me started on a few finishes hopefully & some bits to the Op Shop.
Time to put it aside and work on a QAL with my friend Joy who has been talking me into doing this for some time now.  Watch this space..............AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH   I'm being brave.
The new shelves & the basket sets I've purchased to put the UFO's in.  I went to get 2 more a couple of weeks ago & there weren't any left, but a new shipment should be in soon.  Makes it much easier to just pick out a basket & get a few finishes under my belt.  I even know why one was put away as the instructions are rubbish with a few errors for cutting measurements.  I will try and resurrect the little quilt so I can gift it to someone.

A little crochet is happening too with wool leftover from the rugs I've done over the last few years.  Hopefully this will go as planned.  It is a Mile-a-Minute Crohetalong & another thing my friend Joy is co-hosting, which you can read about here.

OK, enough from this old lady & I will keep blogging as it helpful for me in knowing what I've been up to over the years and for the wonderful friends I've made who keep me sane as much as our crafts, garden & home.  I know I'm not alone in this crisis we are experiencing, even though I do feel lonely at times and we will see the it through.
Take care all, stay safe & warm.
Hugs from Susan.

THE LAKES Part 2

After arriving in Keswick, we did some much needed washing, explored the town and settled in for a night of rest.

Next day we headed out for a garden, only to find it wasn't open every day, so visited the Lakeland Motor Museum at Newby Bridge.  Some great transport items on display as well as Donald Campbell's Bluedbird.  Just a taster.

Isn't she a beauty.

This is cute.

What was someone thinking!!

What every little boy dreams of.

The view from the coffee shop deck.
Woops, one I forgot.  Hubby rode one similar to this whilst a butcher boy doing deliveries after school, between the ages of 13 and 16, which would probably be a no-no these days.

Next morning we went for a lovely walk from the B & B up to Castlerigg Stone Circle and although a bit misty, I did get some lovely photos.

A misty view.

The stone circle.
After our walk we set out for a leisurely, if somewhat scary (at times) drive, as we'd been invited out for afternoon tea and the weather was being a bit unpredictable.  First we drove up to Ashness Bridge, then a little further up the road, we found a wonderful view point, where I was supposed to be able to see 2 lakes, but it was too misty to see the farthest one.

Ashness Bridge.

The view down to Derwentwater.

Looking the other way, I should have been able to see Bassenthwaite Lake as well, but just look at that misty rain.
We left here to head over Whinlatter Pass where we had lunch at the National Park Visitor Centre and got thoroughly soaked going from the car to the cafe.  After lunch we drove on and took the road over Honister Pass where there is a slate mine.  This is the most amazing bleak countryside, but so beautiful in its own right.

Definitely no vegetation on this mountain.

The road disappearing into the distance from near the mine site. Notice the weather!
Next we headed towards our destination for afternoon tea and the rewards were great.  A friend I'd never met, but who started me on my blogging journey made us so welcome.  Her garden is lovely and I forgot to take any photos, as we chatted on about our loves of gardening, quilting and putting the world to rights.  All too soon our visit was over and we headed home.  But oh, wait, there is a photo.

OK, I know, that is me.  But who is that trying to be ever so friendly.  Why that is "Daisy".  Some people weren't sure about having their photos put on my blog, so I've been good and obeyed, but couldn't help myself with this one.  Thanks to you know who for a lovely afternoon.

Just a quick catchup with few odd photos from around here, being some flowers from the garden, although it's looking very wilted this afternoon after a hot and windy day, so will leave photographing that  for another day.  I also had a rearrangement in the sewing room.  I do think it is working better.

This was on the opposite wall, where I have now put my cutting table.

Daises and succulent flowers.

2 different roses and I don't know what they are, as they were here in the garden when we moved in.

Sewing table now straight and easier to access for getting up to use the ironing board and cutting table.  The cushion on my chair came home with me from UK as just the cover.  I used it in the car so I could see out the window.  After I bough it at a great sale price, I realised it came from a Kirstie Allsopp collection.  Hadn't noticed till I showed my niece.  I am a bit of a fan. (don't laugh, I am a bit odd).

I'll finish up for now and the next instalment will probably be early next week.  We still have a way to go with some great photos, but till next time, take care.
Susan.
