JUST BITS!

It is nearly another week gone & what have I done.  Lots, but not much.

A few forgotten photos, moments & craft to follow.  I'm not even sure where this week has gone,, but I do know that I went to a small craft & chat group Tuesday, coffee/cake run with car club Wednesday, up into the Dandenong ranges yesterday to see the National Rhododendron Garden, which was a wee bit disappointing & today (Friday), I've a podiatrist appointment.  Oh, and in the last 2 weeks, we've visited DD & family and also been to Phillip Island, one of our favourites.  This particular day was  windy & we wondered about the size of the waves.  We were in awe of the way they were breaking, then blowing back on themselves.

The Styrofoam ball I've been working on, sitting atop a gorgeous candlestick fashioned by my very clever hubby.

DD's pretty granny square rug she is working on at the moment.  I love these colours.

Now for the two new arrivals at DD's house.

Top is Twyla & below is Buffy.
They are very cute & evidently becoming quite lovable & cuddly, as well as very mischievous.
PHILLIP ISLAND.

You can see from this photo how rough it was.  I do have a video clip showing the waving grass & waves breaking in the background, but it may make you a bit seasick. (lol).

The view from the windows of the cafe/visitor centre at the end of the island where you can see seals on the rocks on a good day.

.
Isn't this an awesome piece of scrap art.  It is at the start of a nature walk that we will attempt on a not so windy day.
ON THE HOME FRONT.

The handles, no, they were knobs really, were something I did not like at all.
No. 1  They were gold 😞
No. 2 Some were very tarnished.

NEW LOOK.
Much better.😊

I think they look so much better and I do like handles, rather than knobs.
We were lucky that one of our big Hardware chains are closing down and have some very good deals at the moment.  60% off these handles, so way more affordable.  Our oven also died just before we left for the UK & we got a new one of those from the same place and paid less than half.  Bargain!  I can now bake again.  Please excuse the state of my benchtops, as I didn't clear them very well before taking the photos & as you can see my problem of having the big machine on show to all and not in a studio.😢
Can you see my new toy?  If you can guess what it is I may send someone a small gift.
OK, best go and take my feet along to the appointment.  Have a great weekend all and take care.
Huggles, Susan.
Pssst!, I'm off to AQM tomorrow and hope to meet up with Judy from News from Jude.

I AM STILL HERE!

Ok, lots of apologies to all about not blogging and only sporadical commenting.

I think I both overdid it and expected far too much of the move and ended up both physically and mentally exhausted and being diagnosed with severe anxiety.  Luckily I have plenty of help here with good doctors and several friends who have been here for me in person and on the phone.  My biggest thanks of course go to my wonderful husband who has supported me through this rather trying time.
Enough of that and now lets look at some photos.

My first is something my DD is doing at the moment.  A beautiful crocheted rug for her sister-in-law who is expecting her first baby.

Aren't the colours delicious!
Now onto a bit about the house.  When we bought it, of course we knew there were a lot of tiles, but we were going to give them a trial run and think about what we may do, but, being one of the coldest winters in many years, we decided that something had to be done straight away.  We were both feeling the hardness and cold through our feet and legs, so vinyl for the kitchen and carpet for the family area which is where Bubs and my sewing area are now.

On 2/7/15 which is when the scree was to go down, I had to go to hospital for a gastroscopy and forgot to take any before photos of the kitchen, but took these when I got home that afternoon.

Scree done.

Vinyl down.

Another view.
Next a couple of pics of the extent of the tiles, then with carpet down.

Extent of the tiles and no the lounge did not stay there, but wouldn't go through the sliding door, so ended up in the kitchen bit.

Carpet down and machine back in position, but then I decided it was no good there so we have moved it again.  This is a mammoth task, but being on wheels does make it somewhat easier.
Now  a couple of photos of the more or less completed rooms now and a couple of odd ones.

New position of machine.

Bookcases back in place with all their books.

Sewing area and the cutting table is now over in the corner after being fixed.  I was sewing in the back bedroom, but felt too isolated, so will see how this goes.

Kitchen back together once again.
Just two more pics for today, no actually "3",

Some old blocks I took from the WIP box  and did some simple sashing.  I'll post another photo once it is quilted.  You may have noticed that there is a small quilt on the machine.  I've had a little problem with the bobbin winder, so it is a bit slow on that front at the moment.

A beautiful dark hellebore I found in the garden.  I'll talk more about the garden in another post.

Also found in the garden, although there was no other veg in sight.  We found more when DD and family visited on Wednesday.  I will be getting veg in sooner or later.
I'll hopefully post again during the week.  I'll leave it at that for now and hope that I still have a few followers.  I'm still in big declutter mode, which is taking up a lot of time, but I am leaving some time for myself to potter around too.  I am off for a hot cup of tea and listen to how we are in for a Polar blast from the South.  I've watched a little tennis and am now enjoying The Ashes, which are both on after 8.30pm our time.
Take care all and sending huggles to my blogpals too.

FLOWERS AND QUILTS.

A BUSY WEEK.

Another week gone and not sure where it went.  Two quilts off the machine, one as a present and the other for a customer.  I've done lots but it's all gone in a blur.  Gardening, baking, eye appointment and visiting our daughter and family.  On Friday I did our weekly grocery shop and actually bought 2 bunches of flowers from the supermarket,  something I've never done before.  One was 4 large gerberas for 96c and the other a bunch of chrysanthemums for $1.80.  Now that is a bargain as they are usually about $7 and up.

Some photos below of a few of these things.

Quilting pattern on quilt below.  The pattern is Tickle from Willow Leaf Studios.

This quilt is going to my friend's sister in UK.  I'll show the full quilt when I finish the binding.

Couldn't resist this.  It wasn't expensive, but I loved the colours.
It's a little high, but I didn' have anywhere else.

See, I do love pink!!

Customer's baby quilt done.

Gerberas from Supermarket.

A gerbera from our garden.  I thought these had nearly died in the hot and dry summer, but this one was there to surprise me the other day.  I cut it and put it on my desk.  The plant is now nice and leafy and looks like it is going to be ok.

Now, I had better go to serve up our dinner, which is leftover bolognaise made into lasagne tonight.  Only being 2 these days, there is quite often enough to make two meals.

Have a lovely week in blogland.

Susan.
