FAVOURITE FINISH for March & more.

Joining in once again with Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs link up for a favourite finish, but.....deary me, I couldn't make up my mind as I'd actually got a few finally done.

Two are actually patterns from Cheryl, one as a QAL recently and a freebie she had on her blog.              The other one was from one of my UFO baskets from a few years back.  Not too sure about the photos as we've not had the best weather for photography, so yesterday being a little sunnier later in the day, I snapped away the best I could, though no "In the Wild" shots as we are still one car down & MM isn't up to long journeys at the moment.

Board & Batten, which I did post for the final link up, but unquilted at the time.
This quilt will be given to one of our car club members who has just become a grandfather for the first time.  (a granddaughter)

This was the freebie pattern called Candy Circle, which I made from a leftover jelly roll and backgrounds from my stash.

The backing fabric purchased as a remnant from Said with Love, earlier this year.

Lastly I'd found some half cut & made blocks from a layer cake purchase that I'd started many years ago and just wasn't sure they were OK, but then thought if I finished it as a lap size, it may be gifted when I needed a more boyish type quilt.  The pattern was from a book by Pam & Nicky Lintott from The Quilt Room in the UK.
I've called this Coffee to Go, as the fabric depicted coffee cups etc., and I used a chocolate print for the borders.

A Few More Silo Trail Photos.

                                                                     SEA LAKE.

                                                                         NULLAWIL.

                                                                            AVOCA.
This one actually glows at night.
OK, my lot for today and I've still got catching up to do on a few different things, including finishing up the Silo Trail holiday.
Hope everyone had a great weekend and hopefully our big car will be home this week after it's little incident and I'll be able to throw camera and quilts in back for photo shoots in the wild.

Take care all and hugs from Susan.

FAVOURITE FINISH OF THE MONTH LINKUP

Linking up with Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs for May, as I'd not finished anything & missed the last one at the end of April.

Macaron Mystery quilt which just happens to be Cheryl's last QAL and with another one on the way, I'm wondering what it's going to be.😊

A hero shot taken early in May when the weather was still nice.  This was taken in  the civil park where our Shire Offices are located and is always quite well maintained so occasionally I use the area for photography.

OK, not much else for today and it has been pouring with rain, windy and ever so cold, plus I'm still missing my Bernina sewing machine and have already something cut out along with a binding waiting to go on another quilt.  It should be back again by next week.
Take care all and hugs from a freezing down under.

TWO LINK UP PARTIES in one post.

Today, this is a quick post for 2 link-ups, being.........

Linking with Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs.
Linking with Sandra from MMM Quilts.

I'll start with Dreami!

I'd designed this quilt a little while back and after I finished in the quiltalong on my Panademia quilt, I decided to use some more scraps I'd found while foraging to do the QAL.  The big problem was that I was supposed to be working on a baby quilt for a friend in UK.  Ah, what a dilemma, so I worked on both during October.

Up Hill and Down Dale once done sat on the design board for a few days whilst I quilted & bound the baby quilt.  Now although not finished, the photo below shows I am still working on it now, so it was sort of a drop everything & make a start.

2.  Favourite finish for October.
The baby quilt is for this one and it is now on it's way to UK & will hopefully arrive shortly.
I wasn't sure what to do, then happened on some panels I'd seen, so ordered them from a shop I know well, by phone & actually received them the next day.  Poor hubby had been waiting for a parcel too & it took 5 weeks & was actually closer to home than the quilt shop, but as we've not been able to go into Melbourne because of restrictions, post has been the only way if you need something.

This one is called "Luv from Oz."
The back is a lovely soft flannel with teddy bears.

Hubby has had a bit of a Dreami moment too.
A patchwork trivet made from the leftovers of my bowl I showed on a previous post.  Isn't he clever.
                                                                            I love it.

Off now to do my linkups before they close.
Take care all, stay safe & huggles.
Susan.

FAVOURITE FINISH FOR MAY.

Linking with Cheryl from Meadow Mist the the month linkup for our favourite finish.
These two quilts have been made, quilted, bound and given to their recipients during this strange and surreal time of this worldwide pandemic crisis.  They share the same pattern I created in 2008 when I first purchased my Quilt Wizard program.  Lacking motivation for doing much during the last few months, I'm actually pleased I did at least achieve 2 finishes.  The above went to a baby born in January and the one below to a baby born in mid March.
Just a short post and off to do the linky thing.
Take care all, stay safe & hugs from down under.

FAVOURITE FINISH FOR NOVEMBER 2019.

Another linkup party.....this time with Meadow Mist Designs for our favourite finish of the month.
OK, I'm being a bit naughty this month & have 3 to show, though it is the first photo which relates to the finish.
As most of my blogpals know, I'm a bit on the wacky side or as someone once called me "a quirky quilter".  So here goes.................
JELLY JIVE.
This one seems to be well liked by all who have seen it, so it will be No. 1 for now.
I have actually been playing with jelly rolls & making two quilts with one roll & background.  As I love designing it has all been lots of fun.  This time though, 2 became 3.
The said jelly roll, which was really a Rainbows pack from Victorian Textiles.

My doodling in a graph book, which is something I use on a regular basis, along with my Quilt Wizard program.  The one on the left, was first designed back on plain paper in 2014, on an aeroplane coming home from a holiday to the UK, after visiting family.
The next few pics are some in-progress shots, which I may have shown before.

JELLY JAZZ
JELLY JIVE

JELLY JUMBLE
I was trying to line these up across the page, but this will have to do.  Jelly Jumble was the first, then Jelly Jazz & finally Jelly Jive.  Below are the other 2 finished.

I took them away with me last weekend for some photo bombing, but it was so windy all the time, this was the best we could do.  They were all taken at Porcupine Flat near Maldon  where this little fellow below was watching what we were up to.
This wallaby was finding it very interesting seeing me trying to stop the quilts flapping in the breeze.
He didn't go till we actually took off in the car.

The old dredge & other interesting bits are scattered here from the gold rush days.
As I've been trying to do this post, the weather has brightened a "LITTLE", though there are still a lot of black clouds banking up again. The wind is still quite boisterous & cold, & the weather station says it has climbed to 11 degrees outside.  Wow!!!!   Been running in & out to the kitchen as, I'm also baking a couple of slices to tide us over the next week or so and listening to some CD's on a louder than usual volume as DH is at his woodworking club.
Well best get myself up as there are cushions to finish for a birthday present, 2 aprons a friend has asked me to make & quilts to keep working on.............Ah, to be retired!!!!
All from this funny old lady for now.  Have a good week, take care & huggles.
Susan.

FAVOURITE FINISH FOR OCTOBER 2019

Joining in with
Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs for our favourite finish for the month.

Crystal Geese.
I designed this quilt last year some time in my Quilt Wizard program and decided earlier this year it would be my project for the Christmas raffle where my younger brother participates at the Sheltered Workshop.  I started it in May and am on the home straight, hand sewing the binding.
Most of the fabrics were in my stash except for the background fabric which I purchased at Amitie Textiles last summer.  It is quilted with a pattern called Blooming Stars by Beany Girls.
Having a slight problem with blogger today, so will leave it at that and join the link.
Take care all and huggles.

FAVOURITE FINISH FOR JUNE.

I'm linking this month to join with Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs for the favourite finish.  Although some may have seen this quilt shown in June, it is the one I liked the most.

                                                                  SWISHY STARS.

It all started many years ago with an outline sketch in my graph book.  It sat there just waiting for the right time to be started.  I had the pansy fabric ready to go, found other bits to go with it, then the background fabric & put it aside in a basket.
I'd thought about doing it as a mystery quilt on my blog, but just don't have the confidence.  I even looked to see if I could find the block in books, but none quite like it.

Come the beginning of 2019 and I decided to make a start.
The first block on the design wall after trying to do a tutorial for it.

Next came more blocks & the sashing stars.

Finally done & ready to be quilted.

And .......voila!  Out for it's photo shoot.

Hope you enjoyed it's journey from start to finish.    Thank you & there are lovely quilts to be seen for June over at Cheryl's blog linkup.
Take care all & huggles, Susan.

FAVOURITE FINISH FOR APRIL.

Joining in with Meadow Mist Designs for the linkup party for an April finish.  This will be short & sweet due to time constraints.

A quilt I showed in progress not long ago, has now been quilted and bound.  I took this photo (below), yesterday at Braeside Park whilst out and about doing some errands.

There are quite a few of these timber sculptures throughout the park, but this is one I love due to my passion for birds of prey.  It also picks up some of the colour from the quilt.
A busy weekend coming with Car club newsletters for Saturday morning & hopefully a small town quilt show too.
I'll be back next week with a better post, hopefully.
Take care all, have a great weekend & huggles.
Susan.

FAVOURITE FINISH FOR MARCH.

I'm linking up today with Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs to join in with her new monthly linkup party.  Hopefully I'll try have something to show each month.  A bit of pushing me along I hope.

I've managed to fit a few bits'n'bobs into last month, but only one proper finish, so whilst away in Ballarat for  4 days, I took this quilt along to try and get a few really good photos and
VOILA........................... Hubby found a perfect spot for me and although "very" windy, I managed this.
Mandalay in just the right setting with similar colouring from the surrounding dry countryside, rusty gate, bluestone ruins and murky sky.
Short and sweet today, but I really wanted to join in with linkup party.  I did tell more about this quilt and a few others in the making in this post, here.  We've only been home for a few hours & I've managed two loads of washing, putting most things away & now need to feed us for tea.  The caravan clean will be tomorrow, as well as a spot of grocery shopping & picking up the car club newsletters.

Ahhhh.............. I'll need another holiday.(just kidding).
Have a good Friday all, take care & huggles,
Susan.
