LINKING UP WITH TWO CHALLENGES.

Today I've linked with 2 other quilty bloggers.

The first is with Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs for the Favourite Finish.
Magic Triangles ( my own design).

These blocks were made many moons ago & sat waiting for inspiration to eventuate.  I finally decided on a setting, made it up, then it sat waiting in the tub of shame till last month.  I did a  very simple custom pattern on it.

The second is with Patty from Elm Street Quilts & is a monthly goal plan to at least work on "something" you need to get done.
Deco Delight (my own design too).

I have shown this at the end of last year when I was slowly working on it after my silly fall.  Now I've decided it is time to get it quilted and bound, ready for the May Favourite Finish.😉  Wish me luck.

Other than the above, things have been quiet and strange, though we did have a nice walk on Tuesday along the Great Southern Rail Trail, so one more section done.  It was one of our only nice days for the last 3 weeks or so and has been cold, grey and raining for a good part of today.  At least this morning was dry so we could start cutting more wood for the coming winter months.  Below is the view from where we were working.

Not often I show what I've been cooking so here is what was made late last week.
Some buttery Yo Yo biscuits in both a flowery shape & ordinary round ones.
Our eldest granddaughter used to love these.

A lemon drizzle cake too.

Well that is a short post today and I really must finish off the Silo Trail this month.
My lovely friend Sandra at mmmquilts is hosting a QAL which is keeping me some what engrossed with rummaging through my scraps and...............mine is going to be a village.  More to tell as we progress on this.  Motivation has been hard lately.  The garden is looking sorry for itself too.

OK, enough from me now.
Take care all and hugs from a cool, damp down under.
Susan.

POP STAR FINISH

Linking with Sandra today at mmm.quilts for the final day of the Quiltalong of her Pop Star pattern.

I've made two with one finished and the other awaiting quilting.  Been a bit slack lately with getting things done, but after a few glitches with both long arm and domestic machines, I think I'll get back into it soon.  I was hoping to take a few photos in the "great outdoors", but woe is me...........weather is not playing nicely, so I've done the best I can.

BABY POP STAR.

A full shot.
The next few are what I hoped would be my "hero" snaps.

An inside photo.

Another inside, showing a little of the quilting.

An outside one high up in the ranges south of us, with a lot of cloudy mist in the background.

This quilt is for a baby boy who was born on Sunday.  His parents are members of our car club and I've yet to meet him.  His sister can't wait till he comes home.  You might be able to see if you click on the middle photo are the cars that I quilted to make it personal for the family.

POP STAR No 2.
I'm calling this one No.2, even though I started it first.  Although I do like it, I lost the popping stars, as the brown fabric was too close in value to the main star fabric.  Is waiting on the machine now to be quilted.
This what the sky has looked like most of the time over the last few weeks.  Very little sunshine, even on days when it hasn't rained.  Been bitterly cold too.  Our snow regions have had the earliest start to the season on record.

Well that is my lot for today and I really must get back into blogging, photography and just enjoying life in general.
Thanks to all my lovely blogpals for being there for me, take care & big hugs from down under.
Susan.

A LINKY THING AND A QUICK UPDATE.

Oh dear, I have been wayward of late, but what with public holidays and just plain feeling a bit "blah", I've not had the inclination to blog or do too much else.  Hopefully things are starting to settle on our patch a little and I'm trying to catch up with blog reading and putting some photos and words into place.

We'll start with this...

Linking with Sandra at mmm.quilts for her current QAL, which I am participating in.                                   Fabrics chosen and I'm hoping to do 2, one for moi and another for a baby due in July.

Two colourways chosen and I don't think I need explain which one is which.

I'm busily sewing the floral one first and have a few bits done.

We have flying geese units.

Also, the half square tringles.

A day out yesterday with DD, S-I-L & our 2 grandchildren was great, although we didn't do what they were doing at The Enchanted Garden which is on The Mornington Peninsular.  It has a few mazes, some wonderful sculptures, a tube slide and many walking tracks, but it's main attraction is "Tree Surfing", more for younger people than us oldies.  I'll pop on  a few photos below of some of the features.

Looks scary, but most were having a good time with helmets and harnesses to make it safe.

There was also a tube slide which brought many shrieks & much laughter from those that went on it.

A few more snaps of what could be seen when walking about.
The beautifully carved relief on the hedge.

Elegant statue at the end of a path.

These reminded e of the Terracotta Army figures in China.

Can you see the laser cut rusty iron native animals?

                                                    Two of my favourites below.
Curly snails

Carved timber kangaroo.

Ok, I've waffled on enough so I'll finish up here and hope that everyone had a good Easter break and for those in Oz, this, another long weekend, it being Anzac Day today was both relaxing and thoughtful, especially with all that is happening at the moment.
Take care all and big hugs from the land down under.

Oh, and one last photo of the small lake with fountain.

A QUICK LINK UP POST.

This will be short and sweet, to link my QAL flimsy that I have participated in with Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs.

It isn't quilted yet, though I have done one row of quilting, but having my back so sore & trouble with my left ear has left me very, very deflated.  We also had a trying and tiring trip to Sydney to sort out the NDIS review for my younger brother which happens in May.  There is to be a lot of thinking about what we need to do as he ages &  we get older.   With the chaotic world we live in at the moment, it is all getting too much for me.  It is why I've been so quiet on my blog, but I do need a good talking too and a kick up the proverbial..................😌

This one she titled Macaron Mystery and when finished I will be handing it over to a special person as a wedding gift.  No name to be mentioned yet.
Well that is about all from me today.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, please take care and hugs from down under.
Susan.

TWO LINKUPS IN ONE.

Today I will link with 2 lovely bloggers who do these on a once a month basis, both at the end of each month.

First up is Sandra from mmmquilts who does the Drop everything and make it post linkup.  Last month I had one  of those moments too and started and actually finished a small quilt.  Even went on the big machine once I had that other one off & had the small one quilted & bound in 2 days with the handfinishing done over a couple of nights in front of mindless TV.  Actually we've been watching the Big Bash cricket.

Stars Aligned.
This is a pattern by Sandra that she had in a digital magazine,  Modern by the Yard.  Small was something I needed to keep me motivated & it is quite subtle in colouring & not one of my brighter ones. Not the best photo, as I was running very late taking photos and the bright sun was too much, after it had been cloudy all morning. I took this on some church steps while out for a small drive yesterday afternoon.  I will try and get a few better ones during this month.

Second is Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs with the Favourite Finish of the month.  I've actually finished this............
Hydrangea Galaxy.
I posted about this one here.  Binding on & both of these quilts & now need labels.  The one above is definitely a favourite finish, being pieced so long ago, sitting on the big machine for nearly 2 months, but finally done.  I do hope we can soon go away to see our boys, grandchildren and take this with me to give to Miss A our first born grandchild, now 24.
I've just realised that both photos have been taken on steps.  The one above on our steps from the verandah to the top part of our garden.

Talking about doing things.........This morning I baked and thought to take a photo as well.  Here is what I made to get us through the next 10 to 14 days probably.  We do indulge at morning & afternoon teatime with a biscuit or piece of cake or slice.  Not into store bought very often, though we don't mind having afternoon tea out occasionally.

Some Peanut Butter Crinkles, Chocolate Caramel Slice & Blueberry Muffins.  Need to keep using those blueberries & the caramel slice is K's favourite, so he deserves it from to time.

OK, that is enough for today and I'll possibly post during the week & of course our photo hunt on Friday.
Take care all stay safe and hugs from down under.
Susan.
