I now have my beloved Bernina, (Bonnie), back and have already finished piecing the baby quilt, so it is now a flimsy, waiting to go on Bubs for the quilting. I'll show the flimsy now, and then progress reports on the quilting and binding later.
Baby quilt hanging over rollers of machine. I had to improvise with the borders, but think it has turned out OK. |
Hubby has been busy clearing out the overgrown shrubbery between the house and side fence, so we can bring our caravan home. We needed a clear space for it, out of the way. I forgot to take photos of the overgrown mess, but as you can see from the photos below, there was a lot that came out. In the middle of it, was a "HUGE" blackberry. Next door neighbour popped her head over the fence to say she'd asked them to clear it several times.
Most of it is to the side. |
We took four of these loads to the local tip, as we haven't much space in this garden. |
Below is a photo of what I am calling my "quilting room". In our last house I sewed, quilted and crafted in what I called my studio, but this house being a much different configuration has sewing room and a quilting room.
This is supposed to be the formal lounge room, but as seen from my last post, we use the large familyroom as main living are. |
In the far distance, I can see Mt. Buninyong. I really need a better lens for my camera, as I can see it much better than this. |
Have a lovely week out there in blogland and take care.
Susan.
Glad you have your machine up and running, lovely room to spend time in.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy, may need some advice too and still can't find the retreat schedule. so will have to ring soon.
DeleteIt sounds like you're getting sorted and settled now and soon you'll think you've lived there forever!
ReplyDeleteSort of getting settled and will be ready for your pattern testing now that Bonnie is back home, and already have some great ideas. The light working certainly makes a difference.
DeleteGlad to hear that everything is getting sorted out and you're settling in to your new home. It looks like you've had some work there, digging out the overgrown part of the garden. Your view is wonderful, now that the smoke haze has cleared.
ReplyDeleteYes, we are settling in and at least we've a small view that I hope won't be spoiled by the new housing estate going in just to the foreground of it. Caravan is coming home on the weekend, so hope to take photos next week.
DeleteLooking good! The baby quilt is very sweet, can't wait to see how you quilt it :) xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy, hopefully ordering a pattern tonight.
DeleteHi Susan, good to see you that you are getting settled in. What a super view to have - I don't think I could go back to living in a town, I have got so used to our views over the fields, and the hills in the distance. I'm looking forward to seeing your baby quilt finished. Anne x
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne, the view isn't as good as yours or some of the ones we've had over the years, but at least it is something. I hope to have baby quilt, actually quilted some time next week, ready for binding,
DeleteGoodness, is bubs some kind of quilting machine? It's huge! But how great that you have a room to keep all those wonderful machines in. Tackling that garden must've been quite a job, well done! It's nice to see you really settling in to your new home. x
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Bubs is a long-arm quilting machine and she is computerised. I've had a few over the years, but she is the best yet, my baby. Hubby got that part of the garden cleared in about a week. Worst was getting rid of it all. I'll post about our small garden over the coming months as our weather has cooled down a little now. Bring on autumn, though I know I'll be missing all my lovely maples in our last garden as they colour up.
DeleteIt's great to see how you are getting settled and unpacked so quickly. Being in rented accommodation and living "in limbo" is difficult, but I think (from when we did it) it makes you appreciate being home all the more :}
ReplyDeleteGreat view!
