Just a little different today with our own choice instead of a chosen word, which although it's what comes as a last item on our monthly hunts, this has thrown me a bit. I finally came up with an idea yesterday, but have added a little extra to the end. Linking with the lovely Kate at I live, I love, I craft, I am me.

I know............I felt like I spent most of our Christmas picnic lunch day at the sink.
Ruby taking it easy from her job as supervisor. This lovely lady belongs to our friends R (above) & V. who are members with the lovely burgundy model A Ford that came with them from Zimbabwe. She's a lovely girl, but her tail is like a whip, which you must be aware of, as I've had a bruise on my leg from so much wagging. Ouch!
Today has been grey, gloomy & wet, so I spent some time in the kitchen this morning. What did I make?
A small batch of blueberry jam in the breadmaker. The half filled jar may be popped into some stewed apples to make a crumble over the weekend. A strange lot from me, but I decided not to make it too long. I do have an idea for a post next week, taking in something we did last year which may be of interest to a few. Nonsense really!! Well it was a strange year & I think most of us are holding our breath a little, waiting to see what 2021 will bring. ๐
Please take care all, stay safe & huggles.
Susan.
I have the same bread maker.....
ReplyDeleteGreat photos
Julie xxxxxxx
Thanks Julie. I don't really use it enough, but for jam it is such a doddle without all the faffing that happens when you do it on the cooktop.
DeleteMy favourite photo has to be Ruby and I'm imagining that waggily tail :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Eileen. I recognised Ruby when out walking one day first, when we still had to wear our masks "all the time", then realised who she was with. Silly me!! I still don't always recognise some people when we are out.
DeleteWe too have the same bread maker and I want to make jams, hummmm
ReplyDeleteIt's good for jam if you have a small amount of fruit & don't want to mess around with thermometers, etc. I made some bread early last year at the start of the pandemic, but have slacked off since.
DeleteWe used to have a gorgeous dog when I was a child, he was a labrador cross and he had a very curly tail which used to wag non stop. One day he managed to escape from the garden and when he came home his tail was straight, he'd broken it. The vet thought he might have had a gate closed on it, or something similar. The vet put a splint on it, it was a really heavy thing and we all got bruises from it as he wagged his tail.
ReplyDeleteYour poor black lab & his tail. If only they could talk to us. Ruby's part English staffy & quite adorable and I'm lucky to have lots of canine friends at the club, as so many have dogs & bring them down from time to time.
DeleteHow lucky to have new fittings for your club kitchen. But favourite picture has to be Ruby on door duty.....bet it was cooler sitting there too. Take care, keep well. xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks C. It is good to have the new kitchen & she may have even been cold that day, even in December when it should have been hot leading up to Christmas.
DeleteI've not used my bread maker for several years now; even though I don't work I don't seem to have the time but then I'd rather be quilting or crochet! Good of you all to work to finish the club house. Rain/drizzle here today.....
ReplyDeleteThanks M. I don't use mine much either & I don't work, but it does come in handy from time to time & like you my crafts and garden are what I love doing, though baking is OK, but planning meals has got tiring after 50+ years & it's up to me to cook or we'd starve.(ha-ha). Been raining here steadily yesterday & again this morning and cool for January.
DeleteI've not used my bread maker for a while, might be time, methinks, to dust off the cobwebs and use it again!
ReplyDeleteMine came out of hibernation at the beginning of the pandemic for some bread, but not lately. Jam has happened since we moved here each year because of the blueberries. Thanks again for our words & support.
DeleteWonderful photo's with a lovely story, especially Ruby the supervisor!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a bread maker but alas no more ... I’d never thought of using it for jam but I can certainly appreciate it would be a lot less less faff than doing it on the hob ... I am always fearful of a bit of a volcanic eruption ... but end up losing faith and jarring too early ... then end up having to reboil ๐
ReplyDeleteYes Carol, much easier & my first attempt many years ago, was burnt badly & tossed.
DeleteBlueberry jam sounds very yummy :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I'm not the biggest jam eater, but it is nice & uses some of our berry crop.
DeleteMy favourite just has to be Ruby and I can just imagine her waggy tail :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Eunice, I thought you may like Ruby.
DeleteRuby's a cutie! Our Chewie has a powerful tail too!
ReplyDeleteI actually just made bread this afternoon in our bread maker. I used the spent grain from DH's brewing he did yesterday. How do you do jam in there?
Thanks Astrid. My breadmaker has a program called Jam, but I'm not sure whether all brands have it. Mine is a Black & Decker & I've had it for quite a while.
