Ah! Friday again & time for our photo hunt with I live, I love, I craft I am me. What could I put for delicious as I'm not a particularly good cook, so I really needed to think outside the box. Wednesday evening just as I was closing the curtains I noticed something, camera grabbed & I had my photo for today.
Berries, tomatoes and squash which I'm sure you'll agree most of us relish.BUT..........
So do these!
Can you spy the visitor to my veg bed? Yes a King Parrot feasting on my little yellow plum tomatoes. The photo is not the best as I was trying not to disturb him so I could get the photo, but as I tried to get a better one, he flew off. It is a male as they have the red head & the females still have the very red breast, but are much greener on top. I still want them to come to my garden, but just not eating the veg, which I hadn't realised they liked. They like the seed in bird feeders too.
Below you can see he had quite a meal from the empty top truss.
Not much from me today, but with thanks to Kate for these word hunts, it keeps me motivated with photography & watching out for what is all around us to be grateful for. I'll link up later and see what the others have come up with too.
Take care all, stay safe & huggles from Susan.
Oh my, if only we had those beautiful King Parrots here in the UK, I'd happily leave some delicious goodies for them. I hope he's left some tomatoes for you to enjoy though :)
ReplyDeleteThey are just beautiful & he has left plenty for us for the moment.
DeleteWell done on getting the photo of the parrot, he looks beautiful. If I could have some of those in my garden I would happily grow some fruit for them :) Take care over there and stay safe :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Eunice & although I'd love to let you have some, not sure they'd acclimatise well.
DeleteOh, that naughty parrot. I think I'd forgive him though, I see the blackbirds eating my blueberries and I should really net them but I do like to see them having a good fill.
ReplyDeleteNo he's not naughty, but mischievous & maybe hungry. We have to net our blueberries to keep the blackbirds out, but take the nets off when the last few are still hanging on & there are always many on the ground under the bushes they feast on, so definitely get their share.
DeleteHe is a real beauty. We too have blueberries which the blackbirds love. I used to wonder how come one day I could see some going pink but then the following day, when I thought they should be blue, they had mysteriously disappeared. Now we tend to net with fleece and it always looks like there is a huge ghost jn the garden π
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol. As I pointed out in my reply above, we net ours too. We've nearly finished picking for this year & the amount is staggering at nearly 30kgs. Must make some more blueberry jam to give away soon.
DeleteI love fruit; as for your naughty King Parrot, he has good tastes! x
ReplyDeleteThanks M. We love fruit too, but my parrot even at the green ones.
DeleteNaughty boy! But I guess he has to eat too........ π
ReplyDeleteYes Joy, he is.
DeleteI love that king parrot. Did not know about them till now. He is gorgeous. I grow miniature/wild strawberries in pots amongst other plants and like to pick them fresh for our muesli at breakfast but the blackbirds have usually beaten me to it!! π
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol. I've a few strawberries in pots & DH made a small movable wire cage to keep our blackbirds fro feasting.
DeleteOoh, those blueberries look wonderful! The parrot is not only beautiful, he also know what's good to eat.
ReplyDeleteThanks Astrid. Your words are very true.
DeleteWhat a beautiful parrot. Yummy blueberries

Wow what a fabulous bird - I know it's annoying having the tomatoes thieved, but wow ..

ReplyDeleteThat cheeky parrot has good taste!
All the best Jan
Love the parrot that visits, but perhaps he could eat something else!
