FRIDAY PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT - LOOK UP/LOOK DOWN

I'm finally able to join in & link up with Kate of I live, I love, I craft, I am me for the photo hunt this week.  Sorry I've been AWOL  & explanation will follow at the end of this post.

INVERLOCH.

An afternoon out, way back in 2016 and while walking along the beach I happened to look down.

Jellyfish

Octopus

Turtle
I think some children must have been having some fun.  Definitely better than I could do.
Still walking along and saw one of these & yes I've shown them before..............
BUT.....................lay down on your back underneath and what do you see when you look up-------

SALTBURN.
Again these were taken in 2016, but a long way from home.
Looking up from the footpath & watching the tram starting to descend.
Travelling to the top and looking down from where we'd come.  A most enjoyable experience.

ARTHUR'S SEAT.
Back on home soil once more and a day out on the Mornington Peninsular in May 2018.
Looking up at the cable cars hanging precariously off their steel cable.
Looking up to see a Wedgetail Eagle soaring overhead on the thermals.  I absolutely adore birds of prey.
And looking down, a plaque about Matthew Flinders who along with George Bass circumnavigated Australia in a small boat.
Aha, fungi, so it must have been Autumn.

That's my lot for today, cobbled together very quickly, although I'm sure I could have found plenty more.
Now for the explanation.................We've had a month of malfunctions here in the Smith household, one of them being me losing the plot somewhat.
Remember I needed a new iron & the one I've bought just doesn't like playing with a quilter, so will probably be replaced with another Tefal when they come in.  Next, just after I posted the last February Photo Hunt, my PC gave up on us and to top it all off, my breadmaker shredded it''s belt while I was making some more blueberry jam.  To be truthful it was all too much for me after the year everyone has experienced (not just me), and along with my back playing up again, I wondered whether it was worthwhile sorting out the computer & keeping up with my blog.
Good news is that it was only the monitor that needed replacing, so here I am once more & will endeavour to stay focused on being grateful that we are both OK & able to enjoy life a little at the moment without being in full lockdown.  Hopefully, motivation will return & I'll get things done.
Thanks for reading, if you've got this far, take care all & stay safe.
Hugs Susan.

  1. Very interesting look up and look down photos. I'm glad you sorted your computer. You definitely aren't alone in not coping when problems occur, I'm finding I can't cope when things go wrong. Too much time spent at home in lockdown and sometimes I have felt there's no end in sight but there will be. I hope your back feels better soon, take care x

  2. I've missed your posts Susan and am glad to see you back here posting. Saltburn is twenty minutes from where I live and I too have been on that little cliff railway. I'm wondering how the beach huts there have coped with all the wind that blew across us yesterday. Stay safe . x

  3. Lovely to see you back, Susan and glad your computer problem has been resolved. We had both washing machine and oven give up on us last year, these things do get you down especially in these strange times. I love all your photos especially the children's sand drawings and of Saltburn which is a favourite place of mine and I love riding on the cliff tramway. Take care:)

  4. Keep going is my motto! I too love the sand drawings, so much better than I could do. I don't think I've been to Saltburn but the tramway looks interesting. If anything goes wrong with my PC, I almost go into panic mode as I use it every day. So glad it was just a monitor problem. Hope you get your iron sorted soon as quilting without an iron is impossible. Take care.

  5. Yes, we all have those days when just one of those disasters can throw us, but to have several consecutively happen certainly can lead to a tail spin x It is 'interesting' how integral a computer is in our daily lives now.

  6. Aw Susan, so sorry to hear of your woes, but I'm so glad you've picked yourself up 'gently, by the nape of the neck' a phrase from a poem by Margaret Atwood in a book I just finished, and are back here. Lovely photos: those kid drawings are great, and I love 'funiculaires' that's French for them because I always think of them that way and that pronunciation since going on my first in Quebec City! My breadmaker bit the dust this past month too, and my husband burned out my electric mixer, which was a good one, and I actually liked it and used it more than the breadmaker, when he so kindly offered to do the dough with the mixer...so yeah not a good month small appliances-wise in both hemispheres ha! Hang in there, it's starting to get better, well no because a third wave is imminent here, sigh...

  7. So glad you are back, missed you last week. Sorry so many disasters all one after the other. They say troubles come in threes, so that is you sorted!!! Hope you get your new iron soon. Take care of your back. I know how debilitating that can be. Now B has joined me... put his back out picking up two heavy trees in pots. xx

  8. Great photos Susan and glad you got your computer sorted ... I think we've all been getting more stressed as this thing goes on - I'm finding the slightest wee thing sends me into a spin now. Cannot wait to get out and meet someone for a coffee. Take care of yourself. Fil x

  9. So glad you got your technology sorted ... it can be so frustrating. We visited Saltburn for the first time a few years ago and we just loved it. The cliff railway wasn’t working but was still beautiful,p. We had some of the best fish and chips ever and ate them on the pier ... thanks for sharing and reminding me 😂

  10. Lovely up and down photos. Saltburn is such a lovely little seaside town which has managed to retain it's olde worlde charm. I'm glad you got your computer problems sorted out, it's such a pain when you're left without internet.

  12. It's so frustrating when thinks break down. I blog more and more on my phone these days, far easier than my laptop ( for me anyway), good to see you haven't given up. X

  14. Well they do say things come in threes and it sounds like you've had your fair share recently. I'm glad your pc problem was only the monitor. I like the Saltburn photos, the cliff lift fascinates me and I love the look of the building - it's somewhere I've never been yet but hopefully I will one day :)
