FRIDAY PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT - STARTS WITH "W"

Linking with Kate once again for our hunt.  I'm so sorry that I've gone a little overboard this week & kept thinking of another "W" thing.  Tough week with talk of maybe another lockdown here in Victoria & once again on border restrictions & I know I'm finding it harder than ever now, but thanks to blogging, I'm keeping my head above water & plodding along.

Here goes with a silly collection of photos from both my archive, recently & this morning.

This morning I snapped this (in the rain) to show the WAYWARD WONGA vine & WISTERIA on the pergola.
WATER lilies flowering on our small pond, taken yesterday afternoon in the sunshine.

WASHER & WRINGER probably circa 1950s as this is so similar to my Mum's first ever washing machine.  This photo taken in January this year on a rare outing to a favourite antiquey/bric-a-brac place which I still haven't blogged about.

Now for a selection taken from browsing my archives.
A WITCH.  Taken on an afternoon drive in 2018 and we did discover this was part of The Great Southern Witch Hunt. We did find a few more, but my camera died on that particular day with a flat battery.
WINDSWEPT ladies sitting  in the dicky seat of an old Model A Ford & laughing our heads off.  I think this was in February 2017 as part of the local Ficifolia Festival.  Not sure it is going ahead this year as we normally see it.
And just one last photo because I couldn't help myself.
This WICKER WORM photographed at Harlow Carr in North Yorkshire was so cute.  Taken on my birthday in 2019 on our visit to UK & "hopefully" not our last.

Enough from me "W"altzing down memory lane and thinking of those care free days of old.
Have a wonderful weekend all, take care, stay safe & huggles.  A big thanks to Kate especially.
Susan.

  1. A good selection of W photos. My aunt used to have a machine and wringer like that and I remember it from the early 1960s. My grandmother used to have a washboard and tub. How lucky we are these days with our automatic washing machines.
Being in lockdown is really tough, just keep blogging and looking forward to better days ahead. Take care.

  2. A Wonderful collection of W photos. It's a good while now since I've been to Harlow Carr and I haven't seen that worm but they do have some fabulous wicker sculptures around the grounds.

  3. All those lovely W inspired photos; what a good idea you had. As for that washing machine, it reminds me of the one Mother had and when I helped her with the washing... hard work! I've not been to Harlow Carr for at least 20 years but the worm is wonderful. Take care and stay safe. x

    1. Thanks M. I had even more W thoughts last night while wide awake for half of it. You must get to Harlow Carr in Spring or Summer as you aren't really that far.

    1. Thanks Carol. Harlow Carr is always a must see when we come over & as we are based around Leeds with family, it is easy to get to.

  8. A good selection of W's here. I like the old washing machine, it reminds me a bit of ours when I was a small child only ours was square and the electric wringers were detachable. My mum would feed something in from the front and I would catch it as it came out the other side and put it in the basket for drying :-)

    1. Thanks Eunice. We had to put basket on floor & help wet washing into it too. The top used to flip up if anything got caught, especially an arm, which my youngest brother did once.

Sounds like the start of a nonsense rhyme by Edward Lear....!!!
Made me smile as I read it and tried to make it rhyme further.
You will have to have a camp out in your caravan just for fun!! xx

    1. Thanks Carol & I love your thinking on the nonsense rhyme & did wonder about a few other W rhyming bits, including Willy Wonka.

  10. Fun collection of photos! I especially love the water lilies, and the washing machine takes me back to helping my mother pull the laundry through the wringer when I was just a wee little kid.
