A DRIVE TO CORINELLA.

 A quick post with photos of yesterday afternoon's drive to pick up a coffee and have a waterside fix.  We chose to head down to Corinella on Westernport Bay, about and hour from us.  

We made our way through Lang Lang down to the bay at Corinella, then home again from Grantville taking back roads to make it a round trip.  The bay on the extreme left of map is Port Phillip Bay where Melbourne is situated at the northern end.  
I took these few photos below, to show that it attracts a lot of fishermen and pleasure boats for a day out.

I just love the pelicans.  There were also plenty of seagulls, terns, one lone ibis and a few other birds. I'm not sure of their names.

As you can see from this photo it is quite popular with the boating/fishing fraternity.

After watching people bringing their boats in, moving them onto trailers, hooking them up and driving off, we decided to call it a day and wend our way home.  As we headed up into the hills, the sky changed dramatically and started to look like this..................

It rained a little on the way home, but around about 5.30pm when we reached home, thunder started to roll around and lasted for about an hour with short sharp periods of rain.  In all we got about 7.5mm overnight.  I think my garden really enjoyed.
OK, that is my funny lot for now and tomorrow is DH's birthday (beware the Ides of March) and if the weather is fine, we may do something.😊
Just to let all know why I've been so quiet.  I have an infected ear which is driving me insane as I can hear a slight humming sound in my left ear and every now and then it throbs.  I've drops to put in & hopefully all will be well soon.  It is quite eerie at times.  Mojo doesn't seem to want to return either with so much havoc going on in the world.
I' missing blogging, but it will return so I'm trying hard to use my word for this year and have the 
"Courage" to get through these difficult times.

    It looks and sounds like you had a nice afternoon drive, I love the pelicans - one of my favourite films is the original Storm Boy. I'm sorry about your ear infection, I hope it clears up soon.

    That does look like a lovely day out, I can just imagine all those birds devouring their feast of fish guts. Happy birthday wishes to your husband and I hope the weather plays nicely for some birthday celebrations. I do hope your ear problem gets better soon. It's hard to watch the news reports right now, so much suffering and it's heartbreaking it really is. Take care xx

      Thanks Eileen. The birds were fighting each other too for the best bits. I find the news really hard these days with no "good news" items.

    What a lovely day out and how wonderful to see the pelicans. It's nice to just take off for a drive, a change of scenery certainly does me good. I'm sorry to hear about your ear infection, I hope it clears up soon.

      Thanks Jo. We do have lots of pelicans here in Oz and even the odd few around our area at times on the wetlands & park ponds.

    Looks like a lovely day out.. it’s very strange seeing the places of Ventnor and Cowes on your map … two of my favourite places over here ion the Isle of Wight. Hope you are feeling better soon and you see the return of your mojo … maybe they are all off somewhere having fun as it seems lots are finding them elusive at the moment, me included 😃

      Thanks Carol. We often see place names that are straight from UK or named after the famous Englishmen/women of the time we were settled, plus a few odd foreign and plenty of indigenous ones too, our town being one of them. I'm finding lots of people finding it hard to settle back into a somewhat normal life too.

    Those stormy skies and colours remind me of African rain - mind you, these days we here in the uk seem to be getting similar heavy downpours. Hope your garden loved the soaking :)

      Thanks Kate. Here in Victoria, it has been unusually muggy & tropical, unlike our normal dry summers, though the grass & hills did dry off for a spell, before this second lot of weird weather.

    How's the poorly ear today? I do hope it's much better. Those pelicans look quite spectacular don't they. I'd be delighted to see them on a day out.

    I wish I could visit that side of town more often as I really love that area. It looks like we both had a nice little excursion on the public holiday! I know what you mean about losing your mojo when there's so much going on in the world. That's usually when I decide to stop watching the new and 'doom scrolling' through stuff on the internet and make time for nice things only. I hope you and your earfeel better quickly! xox Louise

      Not too painful, but a constant faint droning which is annoying. I love our pelicans which are both sea and inland birds, nesting on the lakes in our outback/desert regions when they have water in them.

    I love pelicans too! I'm so sorry to hear about your ear, not fun at all. Glad you got out and about, water is a cure for everything imho. Great photos of the sky! We had thunder yesterday too, seems odd in March when there's been no heat at all. The grass loved it, turning nice and green now.
