FRIDY PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT - BUCKET.

Wow, Friday again already.  I had all sorts of ideas I wanted to pursue for this, but being in hard lockdown again & only allowed a 5km radius from home, scuttled any of that.  I've had to rely on my archives, so very little for today.  Linking with Astrid once again for this.

Looking back to 2008, I remembered this photo taken which fitted the criteria perfectly.

The bucket of a huge loader with our eldest son & myself.  He is a qualified plant mechanic & has worked on all manner of big things & lucky we could see him whilst on holiday that year.  When will we ever go on holiday again & see the kids and grandkids..................?

I'd have loved to have a few sunny days for taking a couple more photos, though nothing much is in flower in my buckets at the moment, so back to the archives & I found these two.
An old bucket that I planted up a couple of years ago with a small flowered fuschia.
And again..................................The same corner of our back verandah in 2 more photos.
Same bucket, but with fuschia larger & more flowers for a quilt photo shoot.πŸ˜‰
The next photo has a re-purposed wine bucket (a gift from the real estate agent when we moved here & as we are non-drinkers & have no use for it I found a good use as a planter) and  another old bucket awaiting a new resident. (on far left).
OK, short and sweet today and hopefully next week I'll be able to get into the swing of things as Spring will be here, though our Health Minister isn't hopeful for the "foreseeable future", but warmer weather will bring HOPE, my word for this year.
I'm off to link up & check out the other hunters and maybe back very soon with a couple of other link-ups I usually join in with my quilting during the week.
Take care all, stay safe and enjoy the weekend.
Huggles, Susan.

  1. Lovely your huge digger bucket (myfavourite photo)! I do like to see big machinery in action. Good idea to plant into buckets, easier to move than heavier clay containers. Our summer is definitely going (boo hoo) so fingers crossed you get some decent weather soon. Take care.

  3. That's a big piece of machinery, and a great idea for bucket. A good idea to use old buckets as planters.

    1. Thanks Jo. I'm lucky to have a hubby who can often think of things too. I do like finding old things to pot up with plants.

    1. It is big & I'm always amazed by some of the huge machinery we see these days. I chose HOPE when Kate was still our word hunt hostess & she was blogging more.

  5. I know how it feels to be dwarfed by a son like you are in that huge bucket!! Lovely planting and like you I can think of nothing better than to use a wine bucket as a very smart planter. So good to see you back on the blog again. Missed you. Happy Birthday for tomorrow. πŸŒΌπŸŒΊπŸŽ‚πŸ₯€

    1. And he's not the tallest son, our youngest is taller & our grandson in UK is 6'7". Actually all ten of our grandchildren are now taller than me & range in age from nearly 13 to 24. I've always been the shortest in my childhood family growing up and now with our own lot. I was only missing for July & have joined in all this month. Wonder what our words will be for September. Thanks for my birthday wishes.

  6. I love your buckets! I also end up planting stuff into any old container. I love the idea of repurposing items. This year I'm planting potatoes in an old washing machine barrel. Just waiting for them to arrive from Diggers Seeds.

    1. Thanks Louise & we may be able to catch up one day when out of lockdown & compare our re-purposing of old things. Not bought anything from Diggers Seeds for ages, so thanks for the prompt.

  10. Oh my, that bucket for the loader is huge! Such a fun photo of you two together. Your corner verandah looks lovely in both photos, and the quilt looks beautiful there.
I'm so sorry you have another lockdown, but hopefully with your warmer weather coming up you might be able to get out more.
Thank you for joining in and if you'd like to change the FALL word next month to SPRING, please do so!

    1. Thanks Astrid. Ah, I'm not changing the word "Fall", as I have an idea.............I do know it isn't Autumn here, but you'll have to wait & see what I'm coming up with.

  11. Great photo for a bucket Susan - that is huge. I hope your lockdown doesn't last too long this time. We're finally getting to the end of ours ... now people are either totally forgetting all the rules or afraid to go out - it'll take a while to readjust. 19 months is a long time.

    1. Thanks Jan & I'm so glad DH & I thought of digger buckets, but DH being a retired driver of big trucks & buses, these large mechanical things are just another part of our lives.
