BEAUTIFUL WARM SUNNY DAY

The fabric I said I'd show which I bought on Friday.
Well, today was just gorgeous and we made the most of it.   I prepared some sandwiches and we drove out to Temple Newsam,  on the eastern side of Leeds.  We explored the wonderful old house (no photos allowed inside), but it was absolutely amazing.  Next we had our lunch seated on one of the brick walls in the amphitheatre above the farmyard which we perused after a cup of tea in the café.  All the old farm machinery and animals kept us fascinated.  Then it was off to the walled gardens and huge long greenhouses.  Below is a selection of my photos.

An old cart.

I loved these ducks.

The coleus collection in the greenhouse.

Check out the length of these glasshouses.

Donkeys, which I adore.

Temple Newsam house.  It is huge!!!

Inner courtyard.

The walled garden.
On Friday I went to the Quilt Show in Harrogate and met Sue who gave me a lovely unexpected gift below.

Sue made a lovely needlecase  and the bus is a keyring.
This was supposed to be a quick post, but I had trouble with the photo placement, so sorry if it's a bit of a mish mash.  I hope to get better as time goes on.
Have a great week and take care.
Susan.

  1. I'm ashamed to admit that although it's practically on my doorstep, I've never been inside the house. The gardens are lovely though, specially when all the rhododendrons and azaleas are in bloom.

    1. The house is absolutely amazing, you really should go inside. Glad I bought that fabric, but I realised that both have birds on them.

  3. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Temple Newsam, it would have been lovely to meet up but I didn't get your email until we'd returned from Scarborough. I think Sue must live quite close to me.

  4. That is a huge house, but probably wonderful to get lost in. The area looks lovely. Like your fabric, too.

    1. Joanna, I'm so sure you'd love to see both UK and Oz, so I'll always try to post the best of my photos to tempt you to both places(giggle). The green piece of fabric, I'd picked up and fondled about 4 times and Sue said, "I think you'd better buy that" and I'm so glad I did. Not sure what I'll do with either of them, but at least they'll go home with me.

  5. I'm glad you enjoyed the show in Harrogate. I recently went to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham and it was amazing. I'm hoping to get to the Harrogate show in November time permitting. Fabrics you bought are lovely can't wait to see what you make with them.

    1. It was lovely going to a show in another country, but was so crowded that I probably didn't stay as long as I might have. Not sure what I'll do with the fabric yet.
